Tuition Waivers

 

We are pleased to announce that for the 2009-2010 academic year two different types of Tuition Waivers are available to students who attend Utah State University – Price Education Center (USU Price) or the Castle Dale Education Center (USU Castle Dale).  The amount awarded to students for the Tuition Waivers will be determined by the funds available and the number of students who apply for the Tuition Waivers, and so at this point the dollar amount is unknown for specific Tuition Waivers.  Applicants will be notified if they have received a Tuition Waiver by approximately 10 August 2009.  Most likely there will be several Tuition Waivers awarded for both types of Tuition Waivers!  When a student is awarded a Tuition Waiver a certain portion of the student’s tuition is waived so that the student does not have to pay for that portion of their tuition. 
 
I)          Economically Disadvantaged Tuition Waiver
 
The Economically Disadvantaged Tuition Waiver will be awarded to students whose ability to afford college has been impaired due to diminished family income and/or extreme financial stressors. This Tuition Waiver is for USU Price or USU Castle Dale Bachelor’s degree seeking students for one academic year (fall semester 2009 and spring semester 2010). Half of the waiver will be awarded fall semester and half spring semester (students attending only one semester will receive only half of the waiver for the semester they attend). To be considered for this Tuition Waiver applicants submit the following to the USU Price information desk by Friday, 7 August 2009 at 5:00 pm: 1. A completed “Economically Disadvantaged Tuition Waiver – Application Form,” and 2. an unofficial transcript from all colleges/universities previously attended including USU (if applicable).

II)        Academic Tuition Waiver
 
The Academic Tuition Waiver will be awarded to applicants that have an Overall (Cumulative) grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.25. Applicants with the highest Overall GPA’s will be awarded Tuition Waivers. This Tuition Waiver is for USU Price or USU Castle Dale Bachelor’s degree seeking students for one academic year (fall semester 2009 and spring semester 2010). Half of the waiver will be awarded fall semester and half spring semester (students attending only one semester will receive only half of the waiver for the semester they attend). To be considered for this Tuition Waiver applicants submit the following to the USU Price information desk by Friday, 7 August 2009 at 5:00 pm: 1. A completed “Academic Tuition Waiver – Application Form,” and 2. an unofficial transcript from all colleges/universities previously attended including USU (if applicable).
 
 
One student cannot be awarded both of the above Tuition Waivers in the same academic year. Both of the Tuition Waivers are available to new, returning, or continuing USU Price or USU Castle Dale students.  The Tuition Waivers are only available to students who attend the USU Price or USU Castle Dale Education Centers and cannot be transferred to Utah State University in Logan or any other Regional Campus or Education Center.
