New Bachelor's Degrees at USU Price
Sep 3, 2009
Beginning Fall 2009, a bachelor’s degree in management information systems and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education, as well as two new online minor programs, are available at USU Price Education Center.
“In this uncertain economy, many people are deciding to start or finish up a degree,” said Vince Lafferty, executive director of program development for regional campuses and distance education. “We are working hard to expand our degree offerings to meet the growing needs of our current and potential students.”
The bachelor’s degree in management information systems, offered in partnership with the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business, allows students to meet the increasing demand for computer-savvy business people in the work force. Courses will be taught via interactive broadcast to centers and campuses throughout Utah.
Upon completion of the bachelor’s degree in mathematics education, graduates will be certified, with a level-4 Math Endorsement, to teach in Utah secondary schools. All of the courses required by the major are broadcast statewide at times convenient for those with daytime jobs.
Online minors in journalism and Spanish will also be available beginning Fall 2009. The minor in journalism, offered entirely online, includes a specialization in public relations, with specializations in print journalism and broadcast/electronic media to be added in the future. This program combines practical mass communications skills training along with understanding the relationship, roles, and interactions of mass communication. The online minor in Spanish gives students the opportunity to gain foreign language accreditation in conjunction with their chosen major program, which will give them a competitive edge in any field. The program focuses on Spanish and Latin American culture, civilization, and literature.
